“Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.”
— 2 Corinthians 7:1 (NIV)
If I had one wish for humanity, it would be this: to walk in true holiness with God. We’ve heard the call to be holy, but have we truly received the revelation of holiness and applied it to our daily lives?
Holiness isn’t just a suggestion it’s a command, and it’s powerful. Yet in this present age, distractions are everywhere. With little self-control, it’s easy to fall short. But holiness is not just about behavior it’s about spiritual alignment with God.
Why does holiness matter so much?
Because we are in a spiritual battle.
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities… against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
— Ephesians 6:12 (KJV)
Responding to trials in the flesh sets us up for defeat. But walking in holiness means walking in the Spirit, where God fights for you.
“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” — Exodus 14:14 (NIV)
Spiritual Weapons that Flow from Holiness:
Prayer – “What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” (Mark 11:24)
Fasting – “Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness…” (Isaiah 58:6)
The Word of God – “Take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” (Ephesians 6:17)
Faith – “Without faith it is impossible to please God.” (Hebrews 11:6)
Holiness gives these weapons power. Without it, we’re just going through the motions.
Prayer:
Father, make us holy as You are holy. Help us to live set apart, even in a world full of distractions. Purify our hearts and minds, and lead us in the way of righteousness. Teach us to war in the Spirit and walk in the authority You’ve given us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
