The kind of people you want to be kind to are those that have absolutely nothing to offer you. Naomi tried to convince her two daughter in laws that they should leave her behind and go find new husbands that could take care of them. All three women were widows and were suffering Naomi thought it was best to not deny the wives of her late sons the opportunity to find a better life. While Orpah decide to heed to her mother in law and returned back to her homeland. Ruth however, clings with Naomi and would not leave her side. Ruth turned down the offer for a better life to suffer with her mother in law.
How many of us would do this? Sacrifice the opportunity for better to suffer with someone who have absolutely nothing to offer!
God is a God of principle and He honors principle where it is evident. Ruth was a Moabite. Moab is a place where a lot of idolatry and sexual perversions were happening. They believe in the god- Chemosh. This was a nation that Jehovah had banned isreal from marrying because He didn’t want them to be influenced by these practices nor adopting their customs.
Ruth had every right to go back to Moab because that’s all she knew all her life. But she said to Naomi “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.” Ruth 1:16
What she didn’t know is that when she said those words God heard and would honor them. Sometimes in your walk with God things might become extremely difficult. Just like Naomi and her daughter in laws, you might experience a season of famine. Difficulties finding or keeping a job, financial drought and no means of income. Perhaps your Moab represent the fact that before accepting to follow Jesus. In your past life you could get money easy by manipulating others, lying, stealing, gambling, and some extreme are drugs or prostitution. Now, things have changed because you are trying to live by the word of God.
You have two options go back to Moab or continue to follow Jesus. I want to encourage you today because just like Ruth if you choose to stick to Jesus. He will lead you into a rewarding blessing because of your faithfulness. We don’t know what happened to Orpah when she chose to go back but we are certain how Ruth story ended. God rewarded her with a husband who had twice as much as her previous husband had.
From the moment they arrive to Bethlehem and all her years Ruth found grace and favor in the sight of Yahweh God all because she chose not to go back to what God hath deliver her from
There are many lessons in just this one chapter but I manage to highlight the first 5:
1. Sometimes your blessings is in disguise on what seem to be the hardest path.
2. Things might look or feel uncertain but trust The Holy Spirit has he leads.
3. Pray that The Father will help you to identify the Naomi’s in this season of your life. Ask him to remove the scale of partially, greed, selfishness or pride from your eyes that you will not misjudge based on appearances or assets but rather the heart.
4. Ask God for patience to deal with seasons of famine. Endurance to wait patiently for his will and method of deliverance.
5. NEVER and I repeat NEVER go back to what Jesus has delivered you from.
Peace be with you all, amen.

Beautiful reminders. Life is more than what meets the eye and Ruth showed us that.
