I want you to start by making a list of all the things you regret and all the things you are currently worrying about - after you finish making this list, I want you to revisit this post.

We all have moments in our past that we wish could change. If we could just go back and make different choices things would have been different. Often times we wish we could go back and undo some of these misfortunes. This causes us to live in constant shame and regret because we blame ourselves or others for some of these mishaps. Maybe it is your fault or you maybe you could have taken a different approach and perhaps things would have been different but the reality of it is this- it happened to you! There is absolutely nothing you can or will ever do to change those mistakes in your past.
On the other hand, some of us might not be so much burden down by our past but we are consumed with the future and what is to come. We are worried about achievements, stability, family etc. I have a friend who is well educated, she is a 29 year old virgin who has a lot going on for her. Sometimes I look at her life wishing that I was in her shoes of liberty. She recently landed a job with the government and rented her own apartment. As mentioned she is single and you would think that she would be so fulfilled at where she is currently in life that her mind would be at ease. The fact that she doesn't have much great responsibility and is making progress towards a bright future. Yet, I find that after much reasoning with her - she is constantly in mental anguish worrying about what she doesn't have. She is desperate in becoming a wife and starting her own family. If you should ask her what is the one thing she wish she had- her answer would be a husband. While it is good to desire these things, I observed that her desire to one day become somebody's wife has blinded her sight so much that she is unable to enjoy the present moment which is a very beautiful place for any young person at her age.
What if?
What if, she slow down for a moment and take a few days to mediate on all that she has accomplish so far? all that she has going on presently for her? She is young Christian woman who is very beautiful, single, still a virgin, employed with a good job and have her own living space - I mean that's more than enough to say "I AM BLESSED & HIGLY FAVORED!" Like her, there are many of us find ourselves caged in our minds. We are bound somewhere in the past or the future to the point where it steals the opportunity to see the beautiful hands of the LORD, slowly putting our life in alignment with his will.
When we focus too much on our past or worry too much about the future, there is no doubt that we will fail to see what God is doing now in our lives as a result we will not be able to cultivate a heart that is full of gratitude and thanks giving.
We see the same example in the book of Exodus 16: 1-3 NIV
"The whole Israelite community set out from Elim and came to the Desert of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after they had come out of Egypt. In the desert the whole community grumbled against Moses and Aaron.
The Israelites said to them, "If only we had died by the LORD's hand in Egypt! There we sat around pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted, but you have brought us out into this desert to starve this entire assembly to death."
The Israelites were so bound to their past in Egypt that they could not enjoy all the miracles, signs and wonders that was done in their midst. Every time they experience a difficult situation instead of looking for a reason to be thankful such as "God is with us because he promised to take us into the promise land, they murmured against the Lord and his servant Moses by cursing their present moment saying ""If only we had died by the LORD's hand in Egypt! There we sat around pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted."
They wanted to go back in the past and undo agreeing to leave with Moses, while God purpose of leading them through that wilderness was to prove to them that He (God) has the power to sustain them day by day through every circumstances.
Some of us are still bound to that trauma that happened 5 years go and 5 years later we are still reliving that pain that's because your body is physically here but your mind is stuck right there in your past where it happened.
You don't have stay in those chains any longer - Jesus wants to set you free today. He wants heal your vessel and enable you to let go those regrets. Let go those things you cannot change or stop worrying about what is to come and focus on the present state that you are in. Maybe you got some news from someone that upsets you and yes, its hard for you to accept this is the situation that you are currently facing but even in the midst of all of that present pain. Look for a reason to see the good that can come from that. It could be something as simple as "I am grateful that this is not worst than what it is. I am happy I am made aware of this situation and I am grateful that this too shall pass." Look for the good in every circumstances no matter how hard it may be and give God thanks.
A grateful heart is a sweet aroma that will attract the attention of God in such a way that will give you access to uncommon favors and blessings you can never imagine. A grateful heart is a great investment when you want to experience quick and supernatural response from heaven. Did you know that angels love it when we are able to discern the move of God in the present moment and give thanks unto Him? I was reading a book called Angels Agenda by Kevin L. Zadia and I was amazed to learn that Angels love when we don't rely on musical instruments to inspire us to worship God but rather we are moved by our understanding that He - God is doing great things in the present moment. They love when we can discern a move of God that is happening right now. In other words, we are not waiting for a move of God to take place but we understand that even now God is doing something new. When I heard this I was literally awe strucked that I paused listening to the audible book just so I could meditate on what I had just discover. That same night I had a vison that someone spoke this word to me "accapella" I cant recall ever hearing about his word before or even knowing its meaning. When I woke up and researched the meaning - it means a form of worship without musical instrument. I knew God was confirming this truth, that what I read was inspired by him.
Angels desire for us to understand that The Lord never stops working.
Stop allowing pains from past regrets or future anxieties steal your opportunity to experience something powerful that God is doing right now in your life. Look around you - Start giving God thanks for everything that you are able to experience now, the good, bad and the ugly. And watch how God will usher you into a new dimension of divine blessings. Jesus unlocked this mystery for us in Matthew 14:17-19 King James Version (KJV)
"And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes. He said, Bring them hither to me. And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude."
He never complained about the past, wishing he had stopped so much people from following him to the mountain nor did he complained/worried about where he was going to get the money to buy food to feed them. Instead the bible says he prayed a prayer of thanksgiving. Thanking the Father for providing the five loafs and two fishes and this unlocked an overflow that was more than enough to feed five thousand.
For the next few weeks I want to challenge you- each day, despite all odds find at least one thing to say "I am grateful for____________________
Don't just say it with your lips but let it come from your heart, meditate on it daily and watch how this powerful habit transform your life in such a way that it will change your entire perspective's on life.
