In Hopes That You Still Choose Him..

Updated: Jul 7

There’s a tender longing in the heart of God that many of us overlook. We often speak of His power, His holiness, and His justice—but have you ever considered His vulnerability? Not the kind born of weakness, but the vulnerability of a Father who gives freely, hoping His children will love Him for who He is, not just for what He gives.

God gives generously. He opens doors to houses we never thought we could afford. He places keys to cars in our hands, fills our homes with laughter, and surrounds us with the warmth of family. He dresses us in style, provides jobs, opportunities, and experiences that many only dream of. He answers prayers, even the ones whispered through tears at midnight. He truly does exceedingly abundantly above all we could ask or think (Ephesians 3:20).

But even as He’s giving, He’s whispering, “Will you still choose Me?”

There’s nothing wrong with having things. God is not offended by our blessings-He is the Blesser. But His heart aches when the blessings become the focus and He becomes an afterthought. When the house gets more attention than His presence. When the job takes precedence over time with Him. When we thank Him, but don’t pursue Him.

It’s the story of so many relationships even divine ones. The giver gives out of love, and the receiver enjoys the gift… but forgets the giver.

God’s desire has always been about relationship. He doesn’t need anything from us-He’s God. But He wants our hearts. He desires our love, not because He’s insecure, but because love is the currency of intimacy.

He’s saying, “Yes, I gave you the house but will you still sit with Me in the secret place?”

“Yes, I blessed you with that promotion but will you still worship Me when no one’s watching?”

“I clothed you in beauty, I surrounded you with favor… but will you still chase after Me like you did when you had nothing?”

God is not interested in transactional relationships. He’s not a vending machine we come to only when we need something. He’s a Father. A Lover. A Friend. He wants to be the One we run to-not just when life is hard, but also when everything is good.

In a world obsessed with getting, God is calling us back to being. Being still in His presence. Being faithful in our devotion. Being honest with ourselves wether or not we truly desire Him. Being mindful that everything we have is a gift, but the Giver is the real treasure.

And in all of His generosity, His question remains:

“Even now, with all that I’ve given you..will you still choose Me?”

Let your answer be yes. Not because of what He gives, but because of who He is.

Because in choosing Him, you’ve already chosen the greatest gift of all.
