His Eyes

There is an old gospel song that I love called "His eyes are on the sparrow and I know he watches over me."

As I reflect on the lyrics of this song. I wanted to know why the writer mentioned "his eyes are on the sparrow" and what was the writer trying to express here. I went and did some research and I found some interesting facts about these birds but what amazes me the most was the fact they are one of the tiniest birds found in the wild.

The words took inspiration from the Book of Matthew, when Jesus advises that since God cares for each little sparrow and “ye are of more worth than many sparrows,” there is every reason to take heart and trust in the Lord (https://www.pcs.org/features/ethel-waters-his-eye-is-on-the-sparrow).

If God watches over such a tiny bird then what says you and I that have a soul and he sent his only Son to die for our sins that we might past from eternal death to life? Now it all makes sense as to why the song writer started by saying "why should I feel discouraged." Think about it, why?

I want you to know that there are many scriptures that talks about the eyes of the LORD. I've put together a few for you, now I want you to sit back and relax while you meditate upon each of these scriptures and their meanings.

The eyes of the Lord are all seeing.

"Proverbs 15:3 - The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good."

The eyes of the Lord see not as men sees.

"1 Samuel 16:7 - But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart."

The eyes of the Lord is our guide.

"Psalms 32:8 - I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye."

The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous.

"1 Peter 3:12-For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil."

The eyes of the Lord observe the ways of men.

"Proverbs 5:21-For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings."

The eyes of the Lord Is upon the land to care for it.

"Deuteronomy 11:12-A land which the LORD thy God careth for: the eyes of the LORD thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year."

The eyes of the Lord preserves.

" Proverbs 22:12 - The eyes of the LORD preserve knowledge, and he overthroweth the words of the transgressor" and many more scriptures to tells us the importance of the eyes of the Lord.

My friends, I just wanted to encourage your hearts. Dispite the trials and persecutions that you are currently facing don't allow yourself to feel cast down and despair for too long because as the song writer says our God eyes are upon the the very sparrows, again what says you and I? Who mean more to him than the birds of the air.

Yes, I know it feels like you are alone out there in this world sometimes and I know it feel like God has forsaken your prayers but be reminded from the scripture's that are truth which tells us that the LORD eyes are everywhere. He sees and know everything. God is with you, don't lose hope.
