Don’t be the prodigal son

Disclaimer: this will be a lengthy read but I trust who this word is for will read to the end.

Do you know the story of the prodigal son in the Bible? It can be found in the book of Luke chapter 15. In summary, a man had two sons and one of his sons decided that he wanted to take all his inheritance and leave to start life on his own. He wasted all he had living recklessly and became really poor. In a poverty state he began to depend on the swine food to eat for a while. This lasted until he came back to his senses and remembered he said "How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! 18 I will set out and go back to my father. ( Luke 15:17 NIV)"

He then returned back to his father who was so happy to see his son returned home that he threw him a big party.

Please forgive me if I sound harsh by what I'm about to say but unfortunately, there are many believers that are still living like the prodigal son feeding amongst the swine. Here's what I mean by this, many of us have no idea our rights being joint heirs to our Heavenly Father. We live beneath his promises and as a result we are unable to see the manifestations of his glory in our lives the way it should. When the prodigal son realizes all his inheritance was finished had he return to his father he would not eat with those pigs. Somewhere through his experience he forgot who he was and who's he was.

The Bible is a set of spiritual laws are rules that if followed we will experience God's kingdom in its fullest! And guess what? Satan knows the rules. He make it his priority to study those rules and that's how he is able to conjure up wiles, snares and subtle schemes. Wether you believe this to be true or not if you don't make it your business to study those biblical rules Satan will always have an advantage over certain areas of your life. Wether it be in the area of your healing, deliverance, blessings, prosperity, influence, breakthroughs, advancement, promotions etc.. He can only have the advantage when you don't know the rules! Consider the chess ♟️ game, if you know the rules to the game and your opponent doesn't who do you think will always win?

He might not succeed in stealing our salvation but he can cause us to live beneath the blessings of our Father here on earth. If we should be really honest There's nothing more frustrating than not seeing the promises of God fulfilled in our life! This is why many turn away from the Lord. The kingdom of darkness means the kingdom of ignorance. In other words it means Satan rules in the area of ignorance. You might get tired to hear me say this but I am a firm believer in this word from Hosea 4:6 NKJV "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge." Many are being destroyed because we don't know the rules of life.

One of the many ways Satan tries to destroy the body of Christ is to make us believe that in our seasons of difficulty God won't come through for us. I'll share an example with you to help you to better understand. We all have our seasons of dark valleys that we have to past through. Psalms 23 talks about going through the valley's of the shadows of death and to fear no evil. While passing through this dead valley. You might noticed some darts of depression, hopelessness, fear, doom, heaviness etc.. being thrown at you. But psalms 23 tells us "do not be afraid!" If the prodigal son knew the rules concerning his father's love he would have never ate with the swine! The moment he was in that season of lack he would have return back to his father's love. Because according to the law of love, Love covers all wrongs. Believing the lies of the devil that now he would suffer because of his mistakes he resorted to the lowest of lows.

Satan knows that I have the gift of dreaming. He would have heard the many conversations with me and others about dreams I have had concerning their lives. Those who know me will tell you. I am a seer, I have been given the ability to see and understand visions. One night I had a dream that my step sister told me that our brother doesn't eat pork. When I woke up from the vision I asked her if our brother eats pork and she said no. There's no way I could have known this unless it was revealed to me by the Lord. You might wonder what's the point of that dream but let's just say that God use little guesture like this to confirm to us our gifts.

When Satan realize that you have the gift of prophecy, interpreting dreams, discernment, healing etc he will always try to pervert your gift. He did the same with Balaam when he realized he had the gift of prophecy Satan tried to seduce him with gifts to pervert him from the way of obedience to God. One of the ways Satan attempts to pervert the gift of interpretations of dreams is to cause the dreamer to dream things that are not from God. Sometimes you might find yourself having all sorts of dreams where it seem like you are always being attacked or defeated and you wake up from these dreams feeling depressed and stressed because you are wondering where is God in all of this.

The Bible reminds us that Satan is the father of all lies and no truth can be found in him. Therefore, there's times we should expect deception from him even in the dream world. His assignment as always been to get us to lose faith in God by thinking we are all alone in our difficulties. Just like the prodigal son who for a season forgot that he was the son of a wealthy man and that there's no need to eat amongst the swine. So it is that Satan will try to blind us from our rights as the heirs to the throne of God. Whatever situation that threatens your faith, wether it be nightmares, problems on the job, school, in your marriage, health etc.. do not be pushed into the swamp with the swines of hopelessness. Do not feed on the thoughts that are contrary to the word of God concerning your rights as a son of God. Search the scriptures, what does the word of God says about that situation?

Recently I spent hours on the phone with one of my dear friend who is also a servant of Christ. As she shared how challenging this season of her life is and the many overwhelming attacks she is currently facing. I could hear the pain in her voice as I used the word of God to comfort and strengthen her faith. We had a very lengthy conversation and by the end of our call we both felt restored. Of course you know someone would frown on that. You guess right! The devil wasted no time to pay me a visit the night in a dream. It was a dream that was perverted and too detestable to share. When I woke up I started to feel overwhelmed! I'm like "God after such a great time in the word snd edifying our one another why would I have such encounter?" It's moments like this we are ushered into eating amongst the swine with all kind of thoughts of defeat and retreat. It was in that moment the Holy Spirit began to impart in my spirit understanding hence came forth this word. Don't be frightened with what you see instead, be anchored in the word of God. Know who you are and who's you are. Yes, it might look like I was foolish to take all my inheritance and leave my father house! Yes, I was foolish to waste it doing nothing important, yes it is finish but I am the son of a wealthy man so let me return to my father. What I'm I am saying?

Yes! It might seem like all odds are against you, yes you are having constant nightmares or negative dreams, yes, your marriage is falling apart and your children is out of control. Yes, the ministry you've worked so hard to build is now dying, while the same people you have helped and turn against you. Though things have looked wasted with God nothing is wasted therefore, I will return to my Father's house.

No matter how things look or feel always go back to what God has said about your situation. In my case concerning dreams of defilement I had to soak my spirit in some of the following scriptures:

Proverbs 12:5

"The thoughts of the righteous are just,

But the counsels of the wicked are deceitful."

Psalms 146:8

The Lord loves the righteous

Proverbs 18:10

The name of the Lord is a strong tower;

The righteous runs into it and is safe.
