There are many categories of laws mentioned in the Bible. You have the Mosaic Laws, the Ceremonial Laws, etc. today however, I want us to focus on the most important category above all the others mentioned in scriptures which is Laws of God.
The word law means a system of rules which a particular country or community recognizes as regulating the actions of its members and which it may enforce by the imposition of penalties.
Here on earth we are familiar with the laws of the land. Almost every business segment there are laws/rules that must be followed. For example we are just coming out of a global pandemic which is the Covid 19 virus. One of the rules implemented to prevent the virus from spreading is the wearing of mask. Persons would be prevented from entering into business establishments without the wearing of their mask. Of course with any law/rules you have the option to disobey them but we should always be ready to pay the price and in this case the price would be you cannot enter!
Where I’m I going with all of this?
In the same way earth have laws that majority of humanity abide by because of the consequences that comes with breaking them, is the same way that God has laws of righteousness that he expects us to obey.
In psalms 119-142 David said “Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth.”
Here the writer expresses that God execute righteousness because his laws are truth and pure. These laws are good and are designed to lead our soul into eternal safety. Psalm 119:105 “Thy Word Is a Lamp Unto My Feet and Light Unto My Path.” Thy word/law guides my feet on a path that’s safe for my soul.
God did not create these laws to control us but rather to guide and protect us from the evil that is in our heart because of sin. Thank God through the man Christ Jesus paid the price for our sins so that we dont have to bear the consequences but this does not mean that we should presumptuously break these laws and not expect that we will not be held accountable.
If we can understand this then we will learn to fear God because God is faithful to his own laws which he clearly makes known that he honor his words/laws above his own name. Then one must understand there are serious consequences if we violate any of these laws and does not repent!
David reconized the importance of God laws and often times he would express this to God through songs and praises he said “O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day. Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me.” - psalms 119:97
Could it be the reason why David was so repent full because he understood that God is a God of law and order and if he said it won’t he do it?
Today I want us to examine a particular law that I believe many even within the church at times ignore and this law is so important that if fail to honor can cause one to be hindered from entering into heaven. Also, I believe that this have prevented many from entering into the kingdom of heaven who have gone on before us.
The law of forgiveness
What is the law of forgiveness? according to the law in Matt 6:12 states “forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.” In other words, forgive us with the same measures we forgive others. This means that God will only forgive us with the same measures that we forgive no more, no less! If you have prayed this prayer before you have made a covenant with God. If we pray 10 times a day and never miss a church service, if we feed the hunger and speak with many tongues and do all the good works that there is to do yet, have unforgiveness in our hearts then God will not forgive us! How can we enter into heaven if we are not forgiven of our sins?
You might say but it’s hard to forgive that person because they are not remorseful for what they have done. Personally speaking, I would lie if I told you forgiving those who hurt you and are not sorry is a easy thing to do. In fact, God chose a very difficult and painful situation to teach me how to have a forgiving heart. I have had situations where people hurt me so bad and lied that they didn’t and refuse to apologize and God said forgive them or else I won’t forgive you!
I have talked with persons who say they will never forgive a certain person! I often times wonder, aren’t you concern about your own sins that are not forgiven? As mentioned above I have struggled with unforgiveness but I never stop until that seed is burned out of my heart by the fire of God because I have the revelation of the importance of this law and I take it very seriously.
Unforgiveness is a seed that can be easily planted in the hearts of men. This is however, a very dangerous and subtle seed that if not dealt with at an early stage can grow rooted and stubborn and hard to come out! This seed is so wicked that it can hinder one from making it into the kingdom of heaven because it is often times are over looked.
Imagine standing before God and he weigh in a balance the wickedness that others have done to you. Things that you feel as though you cannot forgive them for. Then on the other side of the scale he weigh all the sins you have committed since you were a child until now. Which side do you think would be heavier? I know mine would be my own sins because Lord’s know they are many.

There’s another thing I want to point out about this seed. Often times we don’t know that it is there in our hearts because we have not seen or spoken to the ones that hurt us and after a time we kind of forget about what they have done and move on but.. if we happen to come across the person or even see a picture of that person anywhere all of a sudden all kind of emotions resurface and we feel all kinds of way about the situation that had happened. By the end of this lesson you will learn a few tips than can help you know if their is persons/seeds in your heart that you need to let go once and for all. In the mean time;
Dear loves,
Forgiveness is not an option, It is necessary! We must forgive because forgiveness is not for those who hurt us but for our own soul.
Imagine it this way, Each time you forgive someone God forgives you of a sin you have committed. Do you need forgiveness for your sins?
The Ultimate Forgiveness
When Jesus was on the cross He said “Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.” He sets the highest bars that any man could forgive and that is forgiveness unto death. This would mean then, we are without excuse when it comes to forgiving those that may hurt or offend us. Jesus set the perfect example that forgiveness is possible in every situation including unto death for with God all things are possible. Therefore, forgiveness is law and we cannot break this law and expect to get any other result other than what the law states and that is “the same measurement that I forgive with should be measured back to me”.
Gems to take away from today
God will never tell us to do something that he knows is impossible for us to do.
Seek to honor God’s law above emotions.
If you are finding it hard to forgive that person pray and fast on the matter and while you are on that threshing floor be sure to be open and honest to God about everything you are feeling about the situation and towards the person but also tell him why you sincerely want to forgive and move on from the situation.
Forgiveness doesn’t mean tolerance. You can forgive and remove your self from any situation that is too toxic for your spiritual growth.
Walk always in the spirit, this mean that you may need to sit back and carefully assess the situation wether or not the rage/resentment you are feeling is a strong hold that needs to be broken or just a seed that should be uprooted.
Call the person/s name, how do you feel? Feel free? If not pray this prayer below. Remember you are not praying to me you are praying to God the Father so pray earnestly.
Pray from your heart sincerely
Our Father who art in heaven Holy always is your name. We beg to approach your throne of grace today. I have been having a hard time forgiving (name of person/s)
And this is the reason why (state reason)
But as I’ve read today your laws are pure and true. I want to obey them so please help me to let go of this pain I feel toward these persons.
Father forgive me as I forgive my enemies. I know that this is something I must do so that my own sins can be forgiven. Thank you that your grace is sufficient according to 2corinth 12:19
Thank you Holy Spirit for your presence that help guide me in truth. In Jesus Christ precious name I pray so shall it be!
Please share and bless someone!
